He worked at Longhorn Portland Cement Co. along with his father Manuel Robles from the late 60s until the plant closed down in late 80s. In the early 90s he then got hired on with Via Metropolitan Transit where he was employed until retirement in 2009. Robert was a huge fan of old western movies and old west television shows. The only time he would watch anything but westerns was when the Dallas Cowboys were playing. Very big Fan! "How Bout Them Cowboys!" the absolute joy of Roberts life was his dog Dugan. They were inseparable and went everywhere together. Cooking was another thing Robert enjoyed doing for his family, and yes he was a fantastic cook. It was ironic that he could BBQ chicken so well because he did NOT like chicken at all, and would never even taste what he had made. He didnt know what he was missing!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel & Rosie Robles. Robert is survived by his five sons: Robert J. Robles (Amanda, son Nathan & daughter Sarah), Michael Robles ( Marie, sons Michael Jr. & Marcus), Stephen Robles (Jameela, sons Dakota, Jack, Matthew & Samuel), Jason Robles (Luz, son Branden), and Jeremy Robles (December, daughters Jillian, Trinity, Amia, Abby and sons RJ & Jax). Two sisters; Connie Rodriguez (Raul, sons Anthony & Mark) and Dianna Sherrill (Rusty, and son Michael)
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
