Robert "Bobby" Saenz of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the age of 80 with both his daughters by his side. His daughters thought the world of their father and appreciated his parental guidance, direction and the unconditional support that will follow them as they go forth and continue with their lives.
Robert was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 26, 1941, to father, Luis Saenz and mother, Guadalupe Saenz Gutierrez. The youngest of three sons, Robert went to Little Flower, Edison and graduated from Lanier High School. His father passed when he was 16 years old and, with his desire to take care of his mom and family, he enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 19 in October 1960. During his time in the military, he was able to experience seeing parts of Spain and completed his term in the Air Force after 4 years in December 1964.
At the end of the military career, he returned to San Antonio and married. He began working for the US Postal Service in 1965 and retired in 1992 after 27 years working civil service. His military and civil service career spanned a total of 31 years. While working to support his family, he also attended electronic classes at San Antonio College, received a certification, and was able to open his own TV repair shop for several years. He was an avid vintage car enthusiast and owned several vintage cars over the years that led him to join several car clubs that included the San Antonio Rodders and the Brack Pack. He was able to travel and was fortunate enough to take a tour of Europe, and travel to see different sites/states of the United States.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Louis Saenz, Jr., Rudolfo "Rudy" Saenz and sisters, Minerva Saenz and Rebecca Davila. He is survived by daughters, Diane Saenz Garcia and Katherine Saenz-Lopez; sons-in law, Robert Garcia and Louis Lopez; grandchildren Justin Garcia, Joshua Lopez, Ethan Lopez and Joslynn Lopez; and great-grand dogs, Fynn and Jake. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank the medical staff of the following: Veterans Administration Home-based care program, Christus Santa Rosa Hospice, and the staff at Alamo Area Council of Government (AACOG). All were instrumental in overseeing his daily care and were very supportive to Mr. Saenz and his daughters. The family would also like to thank the numerous family members and friends who extended themselves to the family when needed.
