

Bob was born at home in Plant City, Florida on February 8, 1933 to Mabel Daniels Shoffner & Douglas Hinton Shoffner. His early years were spent in Plant City where his father owned an orange shipping business which enabled Bob to accompany his parents around the USA on business trips. It was on one of those trips to Macon, GA. in 1945, that Bob was in a movie theater when the movie stopped, lights came on and the theater management announced that WWII had ended. Theater patrons hugged one another and shouted for joy.
He graduated from Leesburg High School and the University of Florida. Bob served proudly in the United States Air Force, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Armed Forces Honor Medal for service in Vietnam, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal for actions taken at Patrick Air Force Base during the Apollo I tragedy. Upon retirement from the USAF, Bob served as Chief Executive Officer for 18 yrs at Senior Community Services in San Antonio.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Teri; son Robby Shoffner and wife Kim; daughters Nancy Cullity and husband Duffy and Debbie Cheslock and husband James S.; grandchildren Kendall, Wyatt and Charlotte Cheslock, Sandy Miehe, Nick and Ryan Cullity and Douglas Shoffner; great-granddaughter Cassidy Miehe; loving sister Jane Bland and sister-in-law Pat Rothman; niece Sharon Newman; nephews Bart, Brad and Kelly Bland, Dwayne Winters and also his former wife Carolyn Merrell.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Elizabeth Diane Collins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. George Ford, Dr. Scott Ulmer, Dr. Ardow Ameduri, and Thomas Quigley, DDS for years of specialized and compassionate care. Also caregivers Rosita Gonzalez, Maricella Cruz, and nurses Tonya Monson, RN, Anita Moreno, RN, Cindy Lane, RN and James Braddy, RN.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
