Robert was born to Marcelino Solar and Carlota Cuellar, July 26, 1937, in

San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Burbank High School and attended

San Antonio College. He worked for San Antonio Water System for 27

years, retiring in 2001. He had a love for his family, traveling, and sports

whether it be playing/coaching the sport or just watching a game.

He is reunited in heaven with his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Solar, his

parents Marcelino and Carlota Solar and his siblings, Beatrice Huriega,

Marcelino Jr., Henrietta Botello, Lupe Solar, Elvira Gruchol and grandson

Patricio Torres Jr.. He is survived by his children: Stephanie Oliva (Tim),

Robert Solar Jr. (Olga), Martha Sutherlun (Douglas), Roger Solar and his

grandchildren: Mason Rios, Robert Solar III(Laura), Becky Solar, Paula

Ortiz(Hector), and great grandchildren: Julie Solar, Sierra Solar, and

Israel Lozano Jr., and his brother, Joe Solar.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22nd from 6-8 pm with a Rosary to

be recited at 7:00 pm in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass

will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic

Church with burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
