

Robert Albert Tuttle, age 90, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Robert was a long time resident of Austin, Texas and moved to San Antonio in his last years due to illness. Robert was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy aboard the Cleveland-class light cruiser Wilkes-Barre, CL-103, during World War II. He enjoyed the reunions of his shipmates for many years until he was unable to attend due to illness. He had a long, successful career at IBM that took him from New York through Alabama to Austin and helped land the first man on the moon and the development of the first desktop computer. He loved to walk and made friends of all his neighbors while walking his dog.
He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Mary Tuttle and brother, Eugene Tuttle and his wife of 70 years, Emma Jane Tuttle. He is survived by sons, Joel A. Tuttle of Helena, Alabama and Jeffery L. Tuttle and his wife, Cheryl A. Tuttle, of Stockdale, Texas. His is also survived by grandchildren; Jonathan M. Tuttle, of Austin, Jennifer L. Jockers and husband, Douglas W. Jockers, and Christopher M. Tuttle and great-grandsons, Bennett Ryan Jockers and Camden Robert Jockers all of San Antonio.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E. San Antonio, Texas 78232.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, the Alzheimer's Association, or to an organization of your choice.
