

Robert Wayne Walker, age 91, passed on peacefully at home to join his Savior on Jan 21, 2023, in San Antonio, TX. He was born August 20, 1931, in Woodville, Texas where he grew up on a small rural farm.After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he attended the University of Houston School of Pharmacy. He spent over 35 years working as a pharmacist for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals and continued working as a pharmacist over his 50 year career.
Robert was naturally engaging and had an ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He encouraged everyone he knew to stand up for themselves and live in control of their lives. He had a generous spirit and offered support of all kinds to others in their times of need.
Robert enjoyed traveling and hunting. As an avid quail, dove and pheasant hunter, he used these trips as a way to welcome others into the family. He loved to travel with Abigail and was always planning their next adventure. His favorite places included Italy, Croatia, Scotland and annual trips to Ruidoso, NM and Bar Harbor, ME.
Robert’s family was the center of his life. Sharing 56 married years together, Robert and Abigail were one another’s favorite people. He truly took delight in his children and it brought him joy to learn about each activity and accomplishment they participated in throughout their lives. He was a kind, generous and protective father and husband who encouraged his kids to become independent and achieve their aspirations. He inspired his young family as a towering role model, believing that there were no limitations to what they could achieve by practicing diligence and resilience. Robert was overjoyed when his grandchildren entered his life and he cherished every call, hunting trip and travel adventure with them. His grandchildren have many memories of his amazing stories and they will treasure those moments for a lifetime. He was the proudest of his family and the lives they had created together.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Lee and Emory Walker, Sr.; brothers Emory and Bronson, and sister JoAnn. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Abigail; his children Tom Walker (Tiffany), Beth Martinez, Holly Porter (Bob), and Becka Byrd (Bobby); and nine grandchildren Anthony (Sabrina), Jackson, Kate, Allie, Abby, Lauren, Travis, Claire, and Ryan. Robert is also survived by his last English setter Daisy but is reunited with his first English setter, Freckles.
A private celebration of his life will be held for the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
