

Robert E. "Bob" Yates, Jr., age 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his residence in Spring Branch, TX. He was born on November 20, 1938, in Montpelier, VT, to parents Robert and Beatrice Yates. Bob was an original Boston Patriot, (now known as the New England Patriots); and played from 1960 to 1965 as an Offensive Lineman and Kicker. In 1959, he graduated from Syracuse University where he played on their National Championship Football team. Bob was named "First Team All American" and later honored as one of the "Forty Four Players of the Century" at Syracuse. He was recently inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. Bob coached and taught for 34 years, at various Collegiate and High Schools in MA and VT. He is survived by his wife, Fay Farrar Yates; sons, Scott Yates, wife Sharon and sons: Conor and Tory; Tim Yates; Steven Yates, wife Jessika and son Orion; and additional special family: daughters, Ruth Kupcha and children, Anna and Luke; Rena Baisden and husband Dr. Clint Baisden; Wendy McCurdy, husband Ron and sons, Matthew, Marshall, and Will; sister, Nancy Anderson; and brother, Paul Anderson.. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
