Robert’s life was filled with many memories of his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He took great pride in seeing the accomplishments of his children. He was always full of laughter, loved telling jokes, reading comics in the newspaper and had a great love for music. He was also passionate about tracing his ancestry of his Botello-Centeno roots. He was very proud of his family and often helped his mother in assisting with his younger siblings growing up. He served in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine which he was very proud of. Upon returning from the military, he continued his life of public service working for The Texas Department of Human Services and retired February 29th, 2000. Many coworkers remember him as humorous, a true friend, respectable and kind. On his off time, he enjoyed listening to music, playing instruments, especially the harmonica and collecting rare model cars. After retirement, to keep himself busy, he worked at a State Inspection Office in Leon Valley, which allowed him to continue bringing laughter and joy to his customers.
