

Robert Martinez, 55, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 8, 2013 surrounded in love by his family. He was born on December 31, 1957 in San Antonio Texas to parents Jose “Lencho” Martinez and Jesusa (Cruz) Martinez.
Robert, better known as Bob, was a welder fitter at Johnson Controls for almost 30 years. He enjoyed baseball (especially the New York Yankees), cooking, and spending time with his large family. Bob was known for being a devout family man and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kind heart, endless generosity and charismatic sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Baylor; his four children, Leslie, Christopher, Robert Jr., and Aundria; and three granddaughters, Madalyn, Madison, and Sarah. His mother, Jesusa Martinez two sisters Maria Georgina Gonzales ( Julian Gonzales) and Maria Teresa Cardenas ( Andy Cardenas); brothers Jesus (Cindy Martinez), Joe, and Ignacio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Jose Lorenzo Martinez, and together they will rest in eternal peace.
The Martinez family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital who helped in the caring of Bob during his time at their facility. The family would also like to thank all of the family, friends, and co-workers who have supported Bob and his family during this difficult time.
Bob’s life will be celebrated with a viewing which will be held from 6:00 PM -9:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Procession will depart the Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
