

Roberto Manuel Papayanopolus Jr. went to be with our Lord on December 23, 2014. Robert Jr. was born January 12, 1992 in Uvalde, Texas. Upon graduation from Uvalde High School in 2010, he entered service in the United States Coast Guard in November of 2010. He served on the USCG Cutter Steadfast, and was currently serving on the USCGC Heavy Icebreaker Polar Star. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a friend with a listening ear and a helping hand for those in need. He was an avid rocker and a talented artist. He enjoyed working on cars and riding motorcycles with his dad.
He is survived by his wife Chrystal Marie Papayanopolus, his daughter Rosalie Marie Papayanopolus, and Satie Lu, his pit bull; parents Roberto M. Papayanopolus, Sr. and Marisa Hurley; sister, Nicole Papayanopolus-Ibarra and husband, Julian; niece and nephew, Jaida Ibarra, Jakob Papayanopolus, Joel Ibarra; grandmother, Socorro Hurley; uncles, H. David Papayanopolus and wife, Gail, William Hurley; aunt, Ermelinda Papayanopolus; and cousins, Jenifer Marie Papayanopolus, Sophia Hurley; many extended family members and his Coast Guard family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
