

Rodger Warren Dennes was born October 25, 1940 and passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025. Known for his adventurous, carefree, and fun-loving spirit, he touched many lives with his vibrant personality.
He spent his formative academic years at Fulton High School in Fulton, Illinois. He attended Northern Illinois University and then Iowa Wesleyan University where he ran track while earning a degree in Business in 1963. Additionally, Rodger earned his masters degree in Business from Golden Gate University in 1977.
After graduation, Rodger proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Navigator. During his career, he flew thousands of hours in the B-52, C-141 and the mighty F-4 Phantom across the globe and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam and Cold wars until his retirement in 1984.
A natural athlete and avid runner, Rodger showcased his competitive spirit and endurance by participating in numerous running events culminating in the Great Wall Marathon in 2001 and the RAGBRAI (Iowa 7 Day Bike Race) in 2016. Beyond these competitions, he found joy in running, hiking, and bicycling. His love for movement was only surpassed by his love for sports, with his favorite teams being the Spurs, Cubs, and Rangers.
With a fondness for travel and adventure, his exploits took him literally all over the world and provided the backdrop for many memorable vacations. In addition to his various pursuits, he was active within Community Bible Church, donated blood regularly and devoted himself as a volunteer at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, cementing his legacy of service to his community.
Rodger's adventurous spirit and the love he had for life will continue to live on through the stories shared and the memories cherished by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his vibrant spirit will never be forgotten.
He leaves behind a loving family; his sons, Jeffrey (Sylvia) and Nathan (Emily) and his daughter, Jessica, his brother Richard (Bonnie) Dennes and his sister Patricia Hickey. He will also be fondly remembered by his 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren as well as his former wife of 22 years, Sandra Dennes and a
myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Vivian Dennes, and his sisters, Nancy Larkey and Katherine Loper.
