

Rodney Bruce Winn, affectionately known as Rod, entered eternal rest on June 29, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in Lyons, Kansas, Rod later moved with his family to San Antonio, Texas, where he built a life devoted to his family, faithful service, enduring friendships, and countless cherished memories.
Rod was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His life was anchored in his faith, which guided the way he loved, served, and cared for others. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Bermosy Winn, and together they built a home centered on love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Quentin Winn and Ann and John Nunnali; his brother, Terry Winn; his sisters, Andrea(Andy) Thompson and Lisa Winn; and his beloved grandson, Rodney Bruce Winn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bermosy Winn; his children, Bill (Lupe) Winn, Annatte (Derek) Salazar, and Mendi Rodriguez; his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella Winn, Jordan Winn, Andrew (Anya) Salazar, Hannah (Danny) Garcia, Isabella (Thomas) Myers, Jon Peter Salazar, Santiago Salazar III, Dominic Salazar, Annabel Salazar, Colin (Anna) Riley, and Lauren Rodriguez; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Raina, Kasen, Waylon, Henry, Ezra, Ever, and Beau.
In addition to his immediate family, Rod is survived by his brothers, Doug Winn, Jack, Winn, and Larry (Cheryl) Nunnali, his sister-in-laws, Phyllis Winn and Merihna Lucios; his brother-in-law, Terry Thompson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A proud patriot, Rod honorably served his country as a United States Navy Seabee. Following his military service, he devoted 37 years to a distinguished career as a railroad engineer. Even in retirement, he remained closely connected with many of his railroad colleagues, continuing a cherished tradition of breakfast gatherings and fellowship. He also faithfully volunteered with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Alamo City Church reflecting his lifelong commitment to service, his fellow veterans, and his faith in serving others as Christ taught.
Rod found his greatest joy in life's simple pleasures and in the company of those he loved. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching game shows, and sharing lighthearted casino trips with his beloved wife, always grateful for the blessings God had given him. He also valued time with neighbors and friends, and his warm sense of humor, generous spirit, steadfast loyalty, and quiet strength reflected his walk with Christ and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Above all, Rod was a devoted family man whose faith was the foundation of his life. He treasured every gathering, every conversation, and every opportunity to create lasting memories with those he loved. His life was marked by faith, integrity, hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Rod leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his example will continue to guide future generations.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio, Texas 78218, on Friday, July 10, 2026. A private family viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a public viewing at 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., burial at 1:00 p.m., and reception to follow at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
