Rodolfo Garcia Bustos

Rudy was born in Sanderson, TX to Margarito G. Bustos and Cleotilde G. Bustos on March 21, 1934. In 1952, Rudy came to live in San Antonio where he met his future wife, Irma Leon. They became high school sweethearts as they were both band members for the Tech High School, (he played trombone – she the flute.) He joined the USAF for 20 years after graduating from Tech High School in 1954. During this career he was sent to Cheyenne, WY., Indianapolis IN., Anchorage, Alaska, Kunsan, Korea and Stuttgart, Germany. Two years later, he took a job with the postal service where he served for another 20 years. They owned beautiful river front property in Medina, TX where they enjoyed multiple and memorable family gatherings. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mario from Chicago & Margarito from Iowa; sisters, Valentina Ochoa from California, Emma Rodriguez from Rockport, TX, and Minerva Villanueva from S.A. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 ½ wonderful years; his three daughters, Sandra Riojas, Nelda West, and Norma Bustos; and son Robert Bustos; six grandchildren, including Jonathan West who passed on April 28, 2019; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great-grandson; nieces & nephews; many friends and neighbors. He will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough.
