

Rodrigo Hernandez Ortiz, known to family and friends as Ramiro, went to his heavenly home on May 27, 2021 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus C. Ortiz and Josefa C. Ortiz, brother who died at birth Jesus Hernandez Ortiz and great-grandson Monticello Leon Calamaco. He is survived by his wife Trinidad Martinez Ortiz, children Rebecca Ortiz Arispe (Ruben), Eduardo Rodriguez Ortiz (Rosalie), Zulema Ortiz Leos (Carlos Sr.), Rodney Rodrick Ortiz (Lisa), Val M. Ortiz (Jacki), Jenice Ortiz Donnell (Bill), Christopher James Ortiz (Angie), David Paul Ortiz, and Joshua Michael Ortiz as well as 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Rodrigo was born on March 13, 1935 in San Antonio, TX to migrant farm workers and lived in a faithful home where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance. Rodrigo worked his whole life to provide for his family where he shared his parents’ lessons of hard work and taught them to be independent, with a good work ethic and live a life of service to the Lord as successful, productive adults. Rodrigo loved his family unconditionally and his legacy of love will continue through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rodrigo was active in his younger years playing softball for a 4A State Championship team and was an avid go cart racer. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with family and traveling the United States as he wanted to see and experience new places and things.
Rodrigo passed peacefully surrounded by his loving, grateful family and he will be greatly missed by those he touched with is kind spirit.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the Visitation at Trevino Funeral Home - 226 Cupples Road 78237 - will be limited to 50 people in the building at a time. Face coverings are recommended to be worn at all times.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, June 2 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Thursday, June 3, family and friends will meet at Resurrection of the Lord - 7990 West Military Drive 78227 - for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
