Rogelio was driven by his strong faith, love of family, and a vision for what was possible through hard work and perseverance. He came to the United States in 1968, seeking opportunity and the promise of a better future. Rogelio and his devoted wife of 63 years, Dubelza Maldonado, raised their five children in Kerrville, Texas where they were faithful members of the Iglesia de Cristo. In 1986, Rogelio moved to San Antonio where he founded Maldonado Nursery and Landscaping with his three sons. Throughout his long and fruitful life, Rogelio found joy in family and strength in scripture. He was an avid member of the Garden Ridge Church of Christ.
Rogelio was born on December 5, 1936, in Progreso, Coahuila, Mexico, a son of Mariano and Elisa (Madrigal) Maldonado. In addition to his parents, Rogelio is preceded in death by his three brothers, Jorge Maldonado, Ediberto Maldonado and Santana Maldonado.
He is survived by his wife, Dubelza Maldonado; and his children, Graciela Elisabeth “Grace” Maldonado Garcia, Rogelio “Roy” Maldonado, Jr., Hector Gerardo “Jerry” Maldonado, Oscar Armando Maldonado, Diana Maldonado Rudnicki, and Talina Dubelza Maldonado; his beloved granddaughter, whom he raised as his daughter. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Northside Church of Christ, 19818 US-281, San Antonio, Texas, 78258, with a Memorial Service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
