

Originally from Belgium, he joined the resistance at the onset of WWII, where he and his mother provided shelter/recuperation in their home to many American and British pilots that had been downed and were making their way back to England. He also made his way to England and joined the Belgian Army.
After the war, he and his young wife arrived in the United States to live in Iowa. He was the proprietor of a ladies and children's clothing store, Queen and Teen Dress Shop, in Marion, Iowa for over 30 years. They moved to San Antonio to be with their grandchildren and travelled all over the world and United States.
He believed in returning to the community. He was a volunteer in the SCORE organization for many years in San Antonio as well a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Marion, Iowa and many other organizations. He enjoyed listening to jazz, playing tennis and cards, and most importantly, spending time and conversing with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Andree Legrand; son, Roger Legrand and wife Toni and their children, Roger and Amanda; and daughter, Claire Radice and husband Ron and children, Ted, Caroline, Jeff, and Holly.
