Rogelio Rodriguez, known affectionately as Roger, Raja, Pollo, Kumbia King, dad, grandpa, uncle/tio, brother-in-law/compadre, and brother. Born on April 28,1951 to parents Teodoro and Josephine Rodriguez here in San Antonio.
Roger was the kind of man whose presence made life brighter. Kind, loving, humble, funny, and truly one of a kind, he touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was not only a husband, dad, brother or uncle but one of the greatest blessings in our lives.
Roger came into our lives in 1979, and from that day on, he loved us as his own. He helped shape the women we are today and showed us, through his actions, what kind of men we should one day seek in our husbands. He led with love, patience, strength, and integrity, and he gave so much of himself to the people he cared about.
He had a joyful spirit and a way of making people smile wherever he went. Roger was a huge Spurs and Cowboys fan, and there was never a game he wasn’t cheering on with passion. He loved music just as much as he loved sports, and if there was a Tejano song playing, you could count on him to sing along. He never passed up the chance for karaoke, and he brought laughter and life into every room he entered.
Roger had a rare gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and loved. He was the kind of man who would help anyone without being asked, who stayed humble no matter what, and who loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Losing him leaves an emptiness that words can hardly describe and heartbreak that feels impossible to bear. But we will forever be grateful for the years, the memories, the laughter, the lessons, and most of all, the love he gave so freely.
Though Roger’s earthly journey ended on March 27, his spirit will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know and love him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
He is preceded by his parents Teodoro and Josephine, brothers, John, Ramiro, Oscar, and great granddaughter Addelyn Belle.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janie V Rodriguez, daughter Monica and husband Mario, daughter JoAnn and husband Joe, daughter Cyndi and husband Rob, daughter Ronni and husband Odie. His supportive siblings Ricky and wife Gina, and Diane and husband Isreal. His loving grandkids Vanessa, Mario, BJ, Ashley, Amber, Brandon, Gavin, Royce, Richard, Isiah, Trin, Oddie, and Julian.
