Roland Pena Revilla, age 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe and by his daughter, Rachel Sandoval (Eric), son, Roland Revilla, Jr.(Erin), and daughter, Rebecca Hudson (Chris) and 5 grandchildren, Emma Rose, Rocco Christopher, Axsel Edward, Roland Alexander, Esmee Grace and a brother, Frank Revilla (Mary Alma). He was born May 19, 1953 and graduated from Kennedy High School in May 1972. He joined the United States Air Force later that year. After leaving the military he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and later his Masters Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, both in Education. He was a teacher for 31 years and taught in Edgewood ISD, Northside ISD and San Antonio ISD. In 1987 he ran for City Council for District 7. He retired from teaching in 2006. He worked part-time for Alamo Colleges-International Programs. He established life-long friendships with teachers and students from all over Central America. He traveled and visited El Salvador assisting in the selection process of students who studied in the United States. He lived a life of service and his goal in life was to make this world a better place when he left it.
The family will receive guests at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 8:15 a.m. for an 8:30 a.m. Rosary. 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass, and Interment to follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.
