Ronnie Barajas graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954 and went to serve in the US Air Force for six years. He later changed his surname to Bridges.
Ron was a lifetime singer who had meticulously trained his exquisite tenor voice. He had fond memories of performances from Pirates of Penzance at Jefferson High School to The Sorcerer and others with Bexar Opera Workshop. He happily sang to those he called friends.
Ron was a long- time member of Concordia Lutheran Church and served on the Mission Board. He was a quiet man of faith and principle, who fiercely loved his family and his country.
He had a vast knowledge of wine but there was nothing pretentious about him. He loved to share something special at family gatherings. When invited to dinner he would always say, ‘I’ll bring the wine!
He was also an avid reader and kept logs of all the books he had read over the years.
Ron was active in the alumni group of Jefferson High class and loved going to the reunions. After 60 years, they began meeting annually and he never missed, having recently lunched with an old classmate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Loraine Barajas; and sisters, Joanne Kilborn and Jan McDaniel. Ronald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dee Ann Bridges (Howard); children, Joseph Bridges, Donna Buntyn (Mark); and grandchildren, Grace Chapman, Max Chapman, Esther McMahan and husband, Nate McMahan.
