

Ronald L. Leal born September 21, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas was called to Heaven on April 4, 2020at the age of 70. Ronald proudly served in the U.S Navy, 1968-1972. He was a Vietnam Veteran. After serving his country he joined the San Antonio Police Department where he trained new officers as an FTO. He served over 23 years until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed barbequing with his family, going to the coast fishing, he bowled and played baseball after work at the Polo field with the guys. And of course he loved his Chicago Cubs and his Coors Light Beer. Never wanting to rest he began his lawn service and there he worked for 10 years until his illness prohibited him to work any longer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Leal and his faithful companions, Queenie and Mia.
He is survived by his father, Amado (Sonny) Leal, Jr.; his beloved wife of 22 years, Margie R. Leal; children, Monica Gentile (John), Tiffany Pierce (Doug), Ronnie Leal, Jr. (Laura), Brian Leal and April Moreno (Jacob); brother, Phil Leal and sister, Sandra Leal (Amy). Ronald enjoyed nothing more than being a grandfather. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Chandler “The Pearl” Rust, Kathleen Leal, Julia “Squeaks” Leal, Emory Pierce, Jake Leal, Cameron “Cutie Pie” Gentile, Emma Leal, Addison “June Bug” Moreno and Baylee Leal and his furry companions CoCo and Daisy.
A private family visitation will be held Monday, April 13, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with a chapel service to begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Services will be an intimate immediate family gathering at this time with a Memorial Service and Military Honors at a later date.
