On March 26, 2014, Ronald David Ramirez went to be with the Angels in Heaven. At this time, he is telling his loved ones who went before him how fantastic his children are and probably already in deep debate with the great Philosophers and Prophets on the given topic of the day.
He was born in Pleasanton Texas to Jesus and Celia Ramirez on January 4, 1962. He is survived by his loving wife Rose Ann Villafranca and his adoring children Victoria Nicole and Manuel Antonio Ramirez. He is also survived by his Mother, Celia Ramirez and his brothers, Mario Ramirez (Alice), Rene Ramirez, Charles (Melody) Ramirez and Chrs Ramirez. In addition, he is survived by his nieces and nephews: Eva Maria Ramirez, Lindsay Ramirez, Alex Bergman, Isabelle Bergman, Travis Ramirez, Kyle Ramirez, Felicia Ramirez, Derrick (Laura) Ramirez, Brandon Ramirez, and Jared Ramirez and numerous great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his Father, Jesus and a brother, Mike. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law who he considered to be his brothers, Ray (Vanke) Villafranca, Ruben (Mary) Villafranca, Ramiro (Vangie) Villafranca, and Raul (Beatrice) Villafranca.
Ron, or as known by his family, Ronnie was a very caring and funny man. His children were the light of his life and even when he was in deep pain would make a special effort to be with them, attend their functions, and ensure they were taken care of. He had a special place in his heart for children, photography and animals and music. He was a magnet for attracting and helping them. As he would walk down the halls or through the playgrounds of his children’s schools many a time he would hear “Hey Coach” or “Hey Dad” coming from children he had helped. His greatest joy was hearing from a child who had been at risk of leaving school and hearing that they were now in college or had a great job. He would come home with many stray dogs or cats, because they needed a home. He loved photography and had the “eye” of an artist when taking pictures.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a very patriotic man. He had a deep love for his country and attended many election caucuses. His passion was debating political issues and was always well-informed. He served his church community by being in several church organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and serving as the Blood and Tissue coordinator. His last gift to mankind was the donation of his corneas, which will allow someone to see.
We will be celebrating Ron’s life on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Road, San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and the celebration of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Ron has elected to be cremated and interment of his remains will take place at a later date at Fort Sam National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Animal Care Shelter of San Antonio, 4710 Highway 151, San Antonio, Texas 78227, (210.207.4738) http://sanantonio.gov/animalcare/programs/donations.aspx
