I served under Colonel then Captain Blake at Alconbury, England during the mid-1960s as his Chief Clerk. I later received a commission. I retired in 1989 from Lackland AFB. I've often thought about Ron and his wife Connie Tiger but had no idea they lived in San Antonio. I plan to attend the services at Ft Sam tomorrow. God Bless and Speed Your Recovery.

I am so sorry for your grief and pray that God will ease your pain in ways that only He can do. We lost one of the "good guys" in Ron. All of us who knew him will miss him. He was always a great encourager to me in Sunday School and served as a tremendous role model for courage and grace. You remain in my prayers.

We knew Colonel Ron Blake from our days at McGuire AFB, New Jersey when he was the Deputy Chief of Manpower and Organization for Headquarters, Mobility Air Command and Dan was working at the Manpower Detachment on McGuire. We crossed paths several times over the years and Dan last saw him when Dan was at Wilford Hall Medical Center recovering from back surgery. Colonel Blake was a great leader and a true gentleman. We want to send the family our sincerest condolences in their loss.

Please accept my condolances and prayers. Ron and I grew up together on Gold Street in Wichita, Kansas from elementary school through high school and we both went to college in Texas. We were true friends and wish that we had seen each other more often after college. However, he entered the Air Force and I the Army and our paths did not cross as I had hoped. I received the news last night that Ron had passed away and want to extend my condolences to his wife Connie Sue, brother Tony, sister Pamela Johnson, mother Rosela Pierson, and all of the other family members. I went to West High with Ron and had the privilege of playing basketball with him during our high school days. I remember him as a good player and have many fond memories of the games we played in together for our school. It is difficult to know what to say at a time like this when we have to say goodbye to someone we love. Having lost my older brother nearly two years ago, I know the pain that all of you feel. Being a veteran, I am also grateful to Ron for his exemplary service in the Air Force where he served for so many years. My one regret is that Ron was unable to make it back to Kansas for our Class Reunions that I know he wanted to do but was unable because of his illness. As our class meets for our 50th Reunion this coming October, we plan a recognition for all veterans from our class who have served this great country since our graduation. I will make sure that all in attendance are made aware of Ron's passing. May each of you feel the presence of God at this time and know that our prayers are with you. Col Ron Blake served as a superb mentor to a generation of Air Force manpower officers. He served with distinction as one of a small cadre of management engineering and manpower management experts in our Air Force. As but one small example of his many achievements, his review and guidance on wartime and contingency roles for manpower experts guided us for years. As a lieutenant in the early 1980's, I personally enjoyed Col Blake's leadership, insight, guidance, and ability to smile -- he was a leader you wanted to be around. I was a young Lieutenant at AETC/XPM and Ron Blake took me, along with Walt Creswell and Joe Brooks, under his "wing" to show me how to be a good officer, a professional leader, and the importance of community involvement.
