

Born in New York City, to parents Willie and Hattie Mixson, had previously gone on to glory and spend eternity with the Heavenly Father. Rose was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband George Stewardson. The two of them enjoyed a wonderful marriage until his death in April 2018. She was also preceded in death by her loving sister, Shirley Mixon, Edward Nixon, Monroe Nixon and her caring and faithful daughter, Diane Gayner. She is survived by her dedicated and loyal brother, Jesse Mixson and sister, Darlene Mixson her adoring and loving grandson, Vernon Gayner.
Mrs. Rose, as close friends and family often called her, graduated from Bronx Community college, in the nursing assistant program, where she worked until her retirement. She loved fashion, where she engaged in a brief modeling career. Her true passion was horticulture, she loved gardening, growing and nurturing her flowers. She earned the moniker, “the prettiest flower in the garden”.
Ms. Rose left behind a beautiful legacy of humanity. She never met a stranger, and everybody was welcome. She followed the teaching of Our Father until she was called home.
God promises to get us through this time of intense pain and loneliness. It's a comforting sentiment for those who are in mourning. Anchors of hope with grief often comes a crisis of faith, no matter how strongly that faith is held. People in mourning are looking for an anchor, and for us Christians, no anchor is stronger than God'
