

Rosalie V. Carter, born April 14, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. A graduate from South San High School, Rosalie devoted her life to the School District for 42 years serving as a secretary to the Superintendent of the district.
She was a devoted member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, always faithful to her church and the Lord. Her hobbies included planting, yard work, shopping and traveling. She took a lot of pride in her appearance. Rosalie traveled to various places, such as Europe, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. She loved her dogs and cats very much.
Rosalie will be remembered as strong, caring, loving, and independent woman devoted to her community and family, who was more than willing to help out those less fortunate than her. She was a 20-year breast cancer survivor, before battling cancer again her last 5 years.
Preceded in death by both her parents, Joe B. and Amelie Vega, and her step-brother, Joe B. Vega Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Roberta Gonzalez; brother, Ernest Vega (Rosalinda Quiroga); nephews, Kenneth Gonzalez and his daughters, Gracelynn, and Faith, Joe A. Vega (Polly) and their four children Alex, Veronica, Grace and Isabella, Ernest M. Vega (Shannon) and their three children Brendan, Gabriel and Tyler, Christopher A. Vega and his two children Christopher and Sydnie.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff members of The Start Center who took such wonderful care of our beloved Rosalie.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made in Rosalie's memory to breast cancer research.
