Rosalie Ortiz Gomez passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the age of 80 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on February 6, 1938 in New Braunfels, TX to Fred and Juanita Ortiz, Sr. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Richard E. Gomez, Sr; Sisters: Mary Ann Vargas, Linda Ortiz; brothers: Fred Ortiz, Jr., Bob Ortiz, Andy Ortiz. She is survived by her children: Richard E. Gomez Jr. (Cindy), Irma Gomez, Maria Hughes (Scott); 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She was born and raised in New Braunfels, TX; she was the oldest of 16 children. She married her husband, Richard E. Gomez, Sr. in 1960 and started their beautiful family. She dedicated more than 20 years in the retail fashion industry. She worked for Carl's, Joske's and Dillard's in North Star Mall in San Antonio, Texas. Rosalie had a passion for dancing, loved to bird watch, and loved to garden. She was a kind and selfless person who always put other needs first. She was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, who devoted her life to her family and Catholic faith.
A Visitation will begin on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 6p-9p with a rosary beginning at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held the next day, Monday, November 12, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10am with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
