Rose Mary "Rosebud" Munoz, 79, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and joyful living. She was born on December 15, 1946, to Anita (Pena) and Baltazar Garza Munoz.
A lifelong San Antonian, Rosebud cherished her hometown and embraced every opportunity to experience its vibrant culture. She found joy in strolling through Market Square with her daughters, delighting in colorful Folklórico performances, and discovering new places throughout the city she proudly called home. She rarely stayed still for long. Her daughter, Rosario, often joked that her mother needed a tracker because she was always on the go—exploring, meeting new people, lending a helping hand, or simply finding another reason to enjoy life. Rosebud's adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love for her community touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Rosebud dedicated more than 30 years of her career to VIA Metropolitan Transit, where she took immense pride in serving the San Antonio community. Her commitment to VIA extended well beyond her retirement. When she could, she eagerly volunteered at the VIA Bus Roadeos, cheering on the drivers and supporting the employees who had become like family throughout her career. Her unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and genuine love for the people she worked with reflected the pride she carried for both her profession and her community.
Her servant's heart defined her life. Rosebud devoted countless hours volunteering at the Frank Garrett Multi-Service Center, helping with food pantries, senior programs, and community activities. She believed that everyone deserves compassion, dignity, and connection. Most recently, she shared her enthusiasm by teaching fellow seniors how to use iPads, helping them stay connected with children, grandchildren, and loved ones across generations.
When she was home, Rosebud enjoyed the companionship of her beloved Chihuahua, Pixie, who rarely left her side.
More than anything, Rosebud will be remembered for her generous spirit, infectious energy, and love for her family and community. She never met a stranger, always found a way to help others, and lived each day with purpose and joy. Her life reminds others that the greatest legacy we leave is found in the lives we touch through kindness.
Rosebud was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jesse Munoz. She is survived by her loving daughters, Rosario Munoz (Simon Guerra) and Ana Rosa Munoz (Jorge Munoz); grandchildren, Jesse Negrete, Brazen Reed Munoz, Khayman Reed, Martin Moreno, Rosa Lynn Munoz Vela, Briana Munoz, Aidan Munoz, and Arielle Munoz; great-grandchildren Malaya Mae Moreno and Mayana Vela; sister, Margarita Rodriguez; brother, Baltazar Munoz, Jr. (Rosa); as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends at Porter Loring Mortuary, located at 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, Texas, 78212 on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. The following morning, a funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 2610 Perez St., San Antonio, Texas, 78207 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in San Jose Burial Park.
