

Rose moved with her family to San Antonio in 1934. She was a member of St. Gerard's and St. Benedict's Churches where she was active in many church groups such as the Altar Society and Legion of Mary.
In her later years, Rose became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked at Santa Rosa Hospital and Normandy Terrace.
Our Mother was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Joseph Pape Sr. and Roy Cecil Mitchel, daughter Virginia Kay Pape Gerloff, son-in-law Max Chamberlain, her parents and sisters Helen Matthiesen and Dolores Vick.
She is survived by daughters: Sr. Madlyn Pape, CDP., Janice Chamberlain, Elaine Gumm John, Jackie Mulhern Paul, son Walter Pape Jr. Anna, and special son-in-law, Alfred Gerloff Sr. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Alfred Gerloff Jr. Teresa, Sue Gerloff Rogers Larry, Jennifer Mulhern, Paul Mulhern, and Evan, Ethan, and Emma Pape, and six great-grandchildren: April, Aaron, and Alan Gerloff and Mark, Andrew, and Luke Rogers.
Rose's family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of her friends and caregivers at Kaulbach Assitsted Living Center and Vitas Hospice Care for their respectful caring and kindness for our Mother.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel.
