Rose Marie Sherrill, age 94, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas of natural causes. She was born in Mexia, Texas, to Edmond and Lorene (Cundiff) Williams on April 28, 1926.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She met Frank Sherrill, the love of her life, on a double date when they were both with other people, but they were drawn to each other and started dating. They had thirty-four wonderful years together, until his passing in 1979.
Amazingly, Rose passed away on what would have been Frank’s 100th birthday. She enjoyed family camping trips and vacations on the Texas coast. She belonged to a weekly rosary circle, where she and about a dozen other ladies would get together and pray for special causes. When some of her closest friends also became widows, they formed a small group and travelled to Las Vegas and Hawaii several times. She will be greatly missed.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank B. Sherrill, and her younger sister, Joyce E. Wortham. She is survived by her older brothers Edmond V. (Bill) Williams and David R. (DR) Williams; son, William (Jeff) Sherrill and wife Peggy; daughters, Rose “Diane” Johnson and husband Allen; Pamela Kay Bowden; Annette Lorene Blacketer and husband Mark; Laurie Sue Wagoner and husband Mike; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
