Rosemary Ann Mika, age 53, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to Walter and Carol (Rice) Mika on September 3, 1969, at Brooke Army Medical Center. Rosemary worked as an administrator in the cardiology department for 32 years at Brook Army Medical Center. Her coworkers knew her as someone they could depend upon for advice and guidance. Rosemary made sure that no one was ever forgotten on birthdays, employee appreciation days, and was always prepared with a party, including cake and decorations. During tax season, Rosemary worked with H&R Block for over 20 years and had hundreds of returning clients year after year.
In her down time, Rosemary had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed photography, needlework and reading. She enjoyed drive-thru safari parks, going to the beach and was an avid collector of turtle statues. She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church where she attended mass and had been a member of the choir. Her faith was not limited to attending mass weekly. She maintained a prayerful life including praying the rosary daily.
Rosemary is survived by her parents, Walter V. Mika, Jr. and Carol Ann Mika; siblings, Paul Mika (April, daughters Amanda and Grace), Suzanne Mika-Hanna (Greg), and Timothy Mika (Jannette). She is also survived by her “family by love”, Robert and Claire Plummer and their children Tommy (Laura, daughters Sadie and Kennedy), Caitlin Velasquez (Andrew, son Ezra), and Lucy Michaels (Samuel, daughter Ella).
Rosemary never let us forget that she loved us up until the end. We will miss hearing her say at the end of calls “I love you more”.
