

Rosemary Smith passed away on November 22, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born January 5, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charles and Seabie Jones. She graduated from Central High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the Chi Omega fraternity.
Rosemary married Jim Mitchell in 1948. In the early years of their marriage, they traveled while Jim played professional baseball. They had two sons, Mark and Greg Mitchell, and lived in Wichita, KS and in Edmond, OK. Rosemary was an avid bridge player and loved to cook for her family. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the Junior League of Wichita.
Rosemary married Col. Robert S. Smith, Jr. in 1985 and moved to San Antonio, Texas where she resided until her death. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio as long as her health permitted. There she was a deacon and also volunteered her beautiful calligraphy skills for baptismal and wedding certificates.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Mitchell; son, Mark Mitchell; and husband, Col. Robert Smith. Her parents, Charles and Seabie Jones, and brother, Charles Jones, Jr., also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Greg Mitchell of New York, and by her nieces and their families, Catherine Jones Miller of San Antonio, TX, Margaret Jones Wheatley of Midland, TX, and Barbara Jones Bingham, of Edmond, OK.
She will lie in state on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Eastminster Presbyterian Church will hold a graveside ceremony on December 11 at 1:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.

Rosemary's family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the staff at Emeritus at Hollywood Park for their loving care over the past years.
