He was born June 28, 1928, in Lockhart, Texas.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member and former Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 4786, and a member of 4th Degree Assembly 2040. He retired in 1994, after working 43 years for Celotex Corp. Mr. Matta loved golf, especially watching Tiger Woods and working with his fellow Knights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Guadalupe Castillo; brothers, Agapo Agapito, Jose, Manuel and Jose Jolie Castillo.
Mr. Matta is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ascencion G. Matta, son, Robert Bobby and wife, Karen; son, Ronnie; granddaughter, Alexa Rae all of Macdona; brothers, Bernardo R. Castillo of Macdona and Juan R. Castillo of Modesto, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
