Rosario "Rosie" Landry, affectionately known as “Nona” and “Maw Maw” age 77, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. A woman of deep faith, remarkable resilience, and boundless love, Rosie’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
Born to Carlos and Carmen Robledo, Rosie grew up in a close-knit family and was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brothers, Roberto, Juan, and Carlos Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lambert P. Landry, her daughter Christina (Robert) Harris, and her son Graham Landry. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Madelene, Xander, Brock, Clayton, Sarabelle, Hunter, and Jackson Landry, and Alyssa, Mary, Luke, Patrick, Katherine, Jude, and Gianna Rose Harris. Rosie’s love extended to her siblings and extended family, including her sisters Luvinia (Clarence) Anderson, Elisdelia (Robert) Coronado, and Olga (Lou) Flores, and her sister-in-law Lydia Robledo. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will continue to celebrate her life and memory.
Rosie was a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and went on to obtain a Master’s in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in Kingsville—demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and service.
Her professional journey included early work as a secretary at Superior Diary, to the Consul General, South African Consulate, New Orleans, Morton Salt and Edgewood ISD. She later found her true calling in education, serving as a teacher, teacher appraiser and assistant principal within the San Antonio Independent School District. She was a respected educator and mentor, remembered for her leadership, integrity, and the care she showed to her students and colleagues.
Rosie was a faithful and active member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Guadalupanos and the Altar Society. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in both joyful and challenging times.
A woman of many interests, Rosie loved gardening, reading, stamping, playing cards and games, and traveling—especially on cruises and pilgrimages to Holy Sites. She supported numerous charities and found joy in every opportunity to bring people together. Whether hosting family gatherings, celebrating milestones, or simply sharing a warm meal, Rosie created an atmosphere of love and togetherness. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her home was a place of comfort, connection, and joy.
Rosie will be remembered as a rock, a guiding light, and a true fighter. A long-time cancer survivor, she faced life’s trials with courage, positivity, and unwavering faith. Her infectious laughter, generosity, spirit of hospitality, and boundless empathy left a mark on everyone she met. Even in her final days, her strength and radiant spirit inspired all who were blessed to know her.
Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She taught us to persevere, to care deeply, to laugh loudly, and to live with purpose and grace.
A visitation for Rosie will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228. A celebration of life reception will be held at the St. Luke Catholic Church Parish Hall following the mass.
Rosie’s light will never fade—it continues to shine in every life she touched, every lesson she taught, and every act of love she shared.
