Roy Richard Acosta, born July 8, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024 at the age of 58. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio O. & Guadalupe Galindo Acosta; and his brother, Arthur Galindo Acosta.
He is survived by his sisters, Diana Acosta, Hilda Rosalie Acosta, Mary Graciela Santellan and brother in-law Mario Santellan; nephews, David Sanchez, Patrick Montalvo Jr, Mario Santellan Jr, Andrew Santellan and numerous great nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Harlandale High School in 1982, Roy went on to join the Armed Services with the US Air Force. He received an Honorable Discharge upon completion of his term, and then re-enlisted with the US Army. He was proudly recognized with many honorary medals, ribbons and badges during his years of service and received his Honorable Discharge from the US Army in 2012. Roy was a proud veteran, he served in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Persian War.
Upon retirement from the Military, he began employment with the US Postal Service in San Antonio, Tx, until 2017. He also continued with his love for education, he is a graduate of San Antonio College, earning an AA in Social Work, and then attended Our Lady of the Lake University to pursue and earn his BA in Social Services. He enjoyed assisting the community with social matters and counseling.
Roy enjoyed traveling abroad, spending time with friends and family, he enjoyed music, playing chess and teaching it to others, writing, visiting the coast, cooking and "scanning the kitchen for new recipes to create", going for simple rides just to get "fresh air". He was most proud and so passionate of playing his guitar, he wrote/created his own music CD - Mutiny. He also wrote and published a book - A Different Mission.
Roy's humbleness, simplicity, kind hearted, mild mannered and generous way of living is what made him the special and unique person he was. He touched so many lives and was so loved by many, here and abroad. He will always be carried deeply in our hearts, and he will be truly, greatly and dearly missed by his family, relatives, friends and everyone whose lives he touched that crossed his path during his life's journey.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, 78211 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Resurrection will be Celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
