Roy was born in Sydney, Australia to John Henry Deegan and Vera Doreen Davis on May 11, 1952. Roy grew up in the San Francisco Bay area where he graduated from Piedmont Hills High School in 1970. After graduating high school he joined the United States Air Force. Roy served his country for 20 years. While in technical training he met Naomi Schlinkert and on November 3, 1972. They were married at Edwards AFB CA. While serving his country Roy earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and his Master Degree in Technology Management. After retiring from the Air Force Roy continued his career in IT with the State of Texas, Dell Technologies, Best Buy Corporation, Accenture, and Tween Brands where he held Director and Vice President roles.
After retiring for a second time, Roy enjoyed spending time at home with his wife and listening to music in his favorite recliner. He was an enthusiastic mentor to many IT peers. You could also find him spending time with his children and young grandchildren and traveling the Texas Hill Country looking for good live music and food.
Roy is preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Vera Deegan.
Roy is survived by his wife of 52 years Naomi Deegan; his children Andrea Boger and Andrew Deegan; his son-in-law Matthew Boger; and his grandchildren Caroline and Campbell Boger. He was a devoted, proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a generous heart and wanted nothing but the best for his family.
In lieu of flowers you can donate to your local Animal Shelter. The pets Roy and his family adopted over the years were like family and brought such joy and laughter into their lives.
