

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jos B. and Sophia Martinez; his brother Joseph Martinez, Jr. and nephew, David Martinez.
He is survived by his sister, Sylvia Ferris and husband, Patrick Ferris; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Bauer, Dennis Meadows, Jr. David Meadows, Rebecca Martinez and Joseph Martinez III.
Roy graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945; and then proudly served in the U.S. Army, 40th Infantry during WWII.
Afterward, he attended the University of Texas, graduating in the Class of '52 and was commissioned 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Air Force.
After discharge, he accepted employment in Southern California in the defense industry at Coleman Engineering, Douglas Aerospace and Hughes Aerospace. Roy was reactivated to service during the Vietnam conflict and served as an Air Force Captain, stationed in Taiwan.
After discharge he accepted a position in Washington, D.C. with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Roy retired in San Antonio and became an active member and President of Los Bexareos Genealogical Society.
Roy had a unique background in the history of the corn chip and the birth of the Mexican food industry initiated by his grandfather, Jos B. Martinez and his business, B. Martinez Sons Company, originally known as Azteca Mills.
