

Funeral Services will be held at Alamo Heights Presbytarian Church with Pastor Richard Knott officiating on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 10:00 am. All other arrangments were handled by Porter Loring North with a Private Military Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Ruben was born to Beatrice Lazaro and Elias Cortinas on September 23, 1937 and a 1956 proud graduate of Fox Tech High School and San Antonio College. He worked for the US Government in various positions, Awards and Decorations at Randolph AFB and AF Commissary Service where he was selected for the first Civilian of the Year Award. He loved sports and coached CYO baseball/basketball at St. Thomas More and Blessed Sacrement Catholic Church. He was an amazing family man, an avid hunter, decent golfer, a die hard Spurs and Longhorn fan. He colunteered at the Texas Open for years and was President of Tech 56 alumni group. He always stressed education to anyone that would listen.
He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years Geri, son Scott and wife Jennifer and daughter Kim Quindara, grandchildren Joshua, Lauren, Braeden Cortinas, Simon, Kate, Sophia, and Mia Quindara. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Elias, and many of his Tech 56 classmates.
In liu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the San Antonio Food Bank.
