

Ruben F. Gauna was born on December 13, 1938 in Bradshaw, Texas to Juan and Rosa Gauna. He attended school and was raised in Lubbock, Texas, there where he met and married his beautiful wife Guadalupe in 1962. The two moved to Michigan where he later became an employee of General Motors (Oldsmobile) in Lansing and worked for them, retiring in 1997. He graduated from Sexton High School and attended Lansing Community College. Ruben became a member of the Holmes Road Church of Christ in South Lansing and had been a member there from 1965 to 2023. He fulfilled his duties as a Deacon at Holmes Road and was a pillar of the community, helping others and teaching the word of God to all in the area. He spent time as a missionary with the church in Honduras on numerous occasions, touching the lives of others. Ruben was also involved at Michigan State University during the falls at Spartan Stadium as an usher in Section 3. People who knew him, loved him and he loved everyone he knew.
He precedes in death his brothers Manases, Severo, and Eliseo as well as his parents Juan and Rosa.
Ruben is survived by his wife of 62 years, Guadalupe Gauna, their two sons, Rodolfo Gauna and Ruben C. Gauna, his younger brother Reynaldo Gauna of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, his sisters Rosita Pauda of Lubbock, Texas, Alicia Reyes of Lubbock, Texas, and Oralia Houser of Abilene, Texas, his grandchildren, Rodolfo C. Gauna Jr and Lexon C. Gauna both of San Antonio, Surban Ward of Atlanta, GA, Aunistazsa Gauna of Austin, Texas, Trevor Gauna of Gilbert, Arizona, Garrison Gauna of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Valante Donath of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lastly, he has 4 great grandchildren, Sophia Gauna of Prescott Valley, AZ, Kaiaylah Ward, Kristian Ward and Kaelyn Ward of Louisville, Kentucky.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Grissom Road Church of Christ on August 3th 2024.
We wish to thank the medical teams at Texas Methodist Hospital, Dr. Douglas Hilbert, McLaren Hospital in Lansing, MI, and River City Hospice for making his end of days more comfortable.
Special Thanks to all his brothers and sisters from Holmes Road and Grissom Road Church of Christ for their love, prayers and support during this time.
A very special thanks to Tim T. Devlin for being like a son to us. Tim proves a person does not have to be blood to be family.
