Dr. Ruben Guerrero Ruiz

Dr. Ruben Guerrero Ruiz, a beloved son, brother, husband, and father passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 46. Born on May 20, 1979, Ruben was an inspirational figure whose life was marked by resilience, patience, and selflessness.

An amazing man who touched many lives, Ruben was also a veteran who served in the United States Army and was deployed to Iraq from 2008 to 2009. He was an amazing writer, known for his ability to always have a good joke and the gift of engaging with anyone he met.

Ruben was exceptionally smart and dedicated his life to education and service. He held a Ph.D. in Education Leadership Policy, a Master's in Business Administration, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and Associate degrees in Biomedical Equipment and Clinical Laboratory Science. Despite being diagnosed with ALS for 12 years, he did not let it deter him from pursuing his education.

Family meant everything to Ruben, and he was dedicated to those he loved.

Ruben is survived by his wife, April Ruiz; son, Juan “Johnny” Ruiz; parents, Connie and David Ruiz, 3 siblings, and numerous extended family members and friends.
