

Ruby Takako Duggan, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 30, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 16, 1935, in Tokyo, Japan, to her parents, Kinzo Tamura and Shimo Ishiwata.
She married a US Serviceman and moved to the United States in 1954 and became a United States citizen in 1957. She traveled throughout the United States and Europe before settling down in Columbus, Georgia, where she was known as an accomplished cosmetologist. In 1976 she joined the Soka Gakkai International, a lay Buddhist organization, where she remained active throughout her life performing numerous leadership and administrative duties. She moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 1978 to be with her new husband, Roy B. Duggan. While living here she continued her Buddhist practice, dedicating countless hours to counseling and nurturing local members.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, James Winner. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-five years, Roy B. Duggan Jr.; her children Jamie Hayes, John Winner and Jessie Cutchins; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and countless good friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
