Ruby LaRue Beck Manning

San Antonio, Texas

Date of death November 8, 2010 at the age of 92 from natural causes. Born May 7, 1918 in McClean, Texas to the parents of Sally Lee Potts Beck and Luther Ernest Beck of Ben Lomand, Arkansas. Widow of James H. Turk, Jr., who was killed in the Battle of Midway in June 1942. She married Samuel Lee Manning in 1951, who preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by sons James W. Turk and wife Claudette of Savannah, Texas and Lee G. Manning and wife Charlene of Fruitland, Idaho. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She worked as a supervisor in civil service at Kelley Field until her retirement. She was a member of local camera clubs and NARFE. She had a joy for life and enjoyed many social activities. She supported many worthwhile causes and was a devoted patriot.

Visitation will be 5-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Sunset Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Ruby had requested that donations be made to the sender's charity of choice.
