Grandma Ruby & Grandad Ozzie were always very nice to me. When I was 17 I rode the bus from Oklahoma to San Francisco to spend summer with them. It was a great summer, being at the farmers market, going to Oxnard to see Tom & Sandy and their family, stopping at Andersons Peas Soup on the way to and from. Grandma Ruby took me downtown and dropped me off so I could play tourist, visit Alkatraz, etc....I remember grandad was hospitalized and we would go visit him. When I go up to San Francisco I sometimes drive by the farmers market and the house on Bowdoin to stir up good memories. Grandad & Ruby took pity on me and instead of my going back to Oklahoma on the bus they bought me a plane ticket and saw me off at SFO. That was the last time I saw Grandad.
