Ruby Brooks Rivero

Born in Laredo, Texas on November 13, 1932, to Rebecca Centeno and Albert Brooks, Ruby grew up in San Antonio and attended Brackenridge High School. Ruby married and had four children. The first 20 years of her life were spent raising her children. She then retired from Southwest Airlines after 20 years of service.

In 1998, Ruby married Rudy Rivero. Both were retired and enjoyed traveling. One of their favorite pastimes was meeting regularly with all their friends from high school, having dinners and playing Mexican Train. Ruby was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 12 years, Rudy Rivero; her sons, Greg Shelley Valdez and Fred Melanie Valdez; her daughters, Alicia Sam Hill and Christine Marc Joubert; her sister, Vivian Bill Black. The absolute loves of her life were her grandchildren, Sophia and Brooks Valdez, Nicholas and Allison Valdez, Ruby and Lily Hill, Olivia deceased and Francesca Joubert and Matthew Molina.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
