Joyce, a native of San Angelo, Texas, passed away at Brookdale Care Center, San Antonio, with great care from the attendants there, and also care from the special ladies of Hospice. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Le Roy Sweet, who was a retired Army veteran when he passed.
Joyce had a talent for art at a very young age. Her interest in art grew over the years, primarily being a self taught artist. She had some opportunities to study with such prominent artist as Prof. of Art Johann Kisgery in Germany (a DP of WW II from Budapest Art Institute), Llea Myles from California, and local artist. In oils, Endre Szabo and Mary Hetherington in watercolors. Watercolors became her favorite median in 1988.
She varied her interests working with ceramics, porcelain, jewelry, brass, sculpture, leather, wood and music. Joyce received numerous awards for her art work. Her art hangs in several private collations, internationally as well as almost every state of the USA. She was a member of the River Art Group, Randolph Art League, San Antonio Art League, Texas Watercolor society, Trinity Art League, and New Braunfels Art League. She served on the Board of several Art Leagues for many years.
She is survived by her precious poodle Candy, who was welcomed by the employees at Brookdale.. she is now their, little nigh watch dog... The patients love her also...
She is also survived by her sister-in-law and family. She has several other nieces, nephews and their families. She is the last of her siblings to pass. We will all miss her and know she's still painting...
