

Rudy has joined his Heavenly Father at the age of 65, he fought a courageous battle from Lung Cancer and now is resting in peace. Rudy was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 9, 1946 and was a graduate of Fox Tech High School (Class of 1965). He served proudly as an Air Police in the United States Air Force were he completed 3 tours of duty in Vietnam and Thailand. He worked at Lackland Air Force Base as a mail clerk with BITS before retiring. He will always be remembered as a very generous man who was always willing to help family, friends and anyone he may have met that was in need. He had a love for fishing his favorite places, were in Corpus Christi Texas. Corpus Christi was a place dear to his heart especially since this is where he married his wife and love of his life, Dominga. He enjoyed playing poker and had a passion for preparing the weekend barbecue for his family. Most of all he will be remembered as always being devoted to his wife, children mother and family. Rudy especially loved his grandchildren and family dog Cali. He is preceded in death by his father, Pedro Martinez; brothers, Blas and Pedro Jr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dominga “Minga” Martinez; son Michael Angelo (Debbie); daughters, Yvonne Carol, Yvette Marie, Rita Aileen (Gilbert). His grandchildren were his pride and joy, grandsons, Joshua Thomas, Ruben Michael, Eric Alexander, Matthew Scott, Taylor Jamal, and Zachary Ryan. His granddaughters (his angels), Eve Marie and Avery Yvette. Mother, Isabel Martinez; sisters, Margarita Trevino (Raul), Evangelina“Vangie” Palacios (Eugenio), Josephine De Luna, Sylvia Teeters (Dennis), andElizabeth Jimenez. Brothers, Santos (Yolanda), Angel (Nancy), Richard (Catherine), Roberto (Yolanda), David, Mike, Eddie (Tina), Roy (Melissa), Paul. Uncles, Tomas and Jose Garza; aunts, Esperanza Hernandez and Yolanda Montez; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family. We would like to thank family and friends who visited and prayed with Rudy. Our family would also like to thank the staff of CTRC 3rd Floor Oncology, especially P.A. Wayne Lawson and his PCP Dr. April Hain at University Health Clinic. A special thank you to Vitas Hospice Team 551 for the wonderful care and support you provided for Rudy and his family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 152 Florencia. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
