Rudy was married to the love of his life, Yvonne Jean Treviño, for 59 years. Together they built their home in San Antonio, where they raised their three children. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and will be remembered for his unwavering love, dedication, integrity, and loyalty. As a devoted Catholic, he placed his full trust in God and found joy and peace in attending Mass. His life was a testament to faith, service, and humility. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love, faith, and hope.
Rudy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1968 during the Vietnam era and remained a proud member of the VFW throughout his life. After his service, he studied law before beginning a 39 year career as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was deeply committed to union leadership, serving more than 30 years as a paid delegate, over 25 years as a union steward, 9 years as a trustee, and 2 years as treasurer. He also served over 16 years as a Board Member of the San Antonio AFL-CIO Central Labor Council and 12 years as President of the Hank Brown Retiree Council. Rudy was known for his willingness to help others and his reputation for always getting the job done. His service to his country, coworkers, and community reflected a lifetime of commitment, reliability, and integrity.
Rudy loved music and found joy in playing the guitar, the harmonica, and listening to his favorite songs. He cherished time spent with family, whether gathered around the table or enjoying BBQ cookouts together. He had a beautiful gift for storytelling; every time we gathered, his stories filled the room with laughter and brought us closer. He carried a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any space, and his presence made every moment feel fuller. Our family will miss him beyond measure, and the absence of his voice, laughter, and love will be felt deeply. Rudy will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on in the joy he shared, and the love he gave so generously.
As he enters the Kingdom of Heaven, we trust in God’s promise of eternal life. May the Lord welcome him with open arms, and may His grace bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. May he Rest In Peace.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who cared for Rudy. He spent over 100 days as a resident at the Heights of Huebner and in his final days, he was surrounded by the gentle care of the hospice team, Gentle Partners. We are deeply grateful for the kindness, patience, and respect shown to him throughout his journey. May the Lord bless each of you and your families for the comfort and support you provided to our father. Your dedication and love will always be remembered.
