'Although my father's vocation was US Letter Carrier, his avocation was as a trained singer. He had a beautiful baritone voice that warmed the hearts of those who heard him sing. As a young man he sang frequently in the San Antonio Opera Chorus and the San Antonio Symphony Chorus. He was also the choir master and soloist for several churches through the years in San Antonio. For many years he was the guest baritone soloist for the Christmas Eve service at Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio. He also sang solos for countless weddings and funerals.

'How well I remember Russell's great voice singing the gospel on radio on Bro. Joe McNamee's radio program back in the 1940's! Those were high points in my life as a new Christian. Now both of them are rejoicing with the saints in the presence of the Father. I thank God for Russell's long years of service and his faithfulness!'

'My memory of Uncle Russell is that he was a kind, gentle, loving and caring gentleman. He will be greatly missed by his family and our memories will be a blessing to us until we met him again and hear him sing with his beautiful voice in the Heavenly Choir. 'Ruth, this is a voice from your past at Page Junior High and Highlands High School. My father was Fritz Bohne Jr. who also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in SA. I remember my dad speaking so fondly of your dad as a friend and co-worker. He also admired your dad's musical talent in the area of church music. My dad passed away in 2000 at the age of 89.
