I was so blessed to have the good fortune of Ruth as my cooperating teacher when I was student teaching back in 1978. I then spent four years years at with her at Boone Elementary. We had lots of fun times and laughter together as we taught side by side in adjoining classrooms. Ruth and I kept touch over the years and she was always so delighted at the birth of my children and then grandchildren. I will miss her so and have many many fond memories of our good times together. She was a real sweetheart and had such an infectious smile and laughter. Everyone who knew her was touched by her love of God, family, and friendships. I will never forget her!

Mrs Heskew was one of my favorite teachers of all time. She taught me at Boone Elementary in the 1970’s. I would see her now and then over the years and she was a member of my parents’ church. She would always remind me of a homemade Christmas gift I gave her one year at Boone. She was the sweetest lady. I hadn’t seen her in years and I missed her nice smile and kind words.

Mrs. Heskew has always been ... and will always be ... one of my favorite people. I have told many people over the years; that, if I could have chosen my own parents, I would choose Mr. & Mrs. Heskew. I've known them my entire life and consider my life enriched because of their friendship. They left an indelible mark on the education of Northside ISD students .... and they produced generations of teachers in their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Heskew is the matriarch of a very loving family .... the epitome of the American Dream ... from which we all could learn about true, selfless love. I will miss her so very much. She loved me so.
