Ruth Elizabeth Pena

Ruth Elizabeth Pena, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. Ruth was born on January 6, 1925 to Howard and Martha Passwater in Noblesville, Indiana. She was the 3rd of 4 girls and a member of the Greatest Generation. Ruth was active in the USO as a Liberty Belle. She met her husband, Claude, during World War II in San Diego and they later married in Laredo, Texas when she was 20 years old. Ruth was a woman of great faith and her children were everything to her. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude Benjamin Pena. Ruth is survived by her nine children, Stephen D. Pena and wife Nancy, Peggy Pena Gonzales and husband Al, Pat Pena, John B. Pena and wife Ruth, James C. Pena and wife Lisa, Cordie Pena Bays and husband Joe, Ruth Pena DeVage, Howard D. Pena and wife Caroline and Janet Pena Sill and husband Richard; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and sister, JoAnn Faust.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Porter Loring North.

Service, Monday, July 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North Chapel, 2102 North Loop 1604 East.

Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Austin Foundation.
