Ruth was born on July 21, 1925 in Philadelphia to Ingeborg and Halfdan Hansen who immigrated from Bergen Norway to Philadelphia.
Ruth was a strong woman who fought a brave battle with bone cancer. Even when she lost her arm, 15 years ago, she took golf lessons and refused to let the loss of her arm stop her.
She loved reading, bridge, traveling, golf, biking, antiques, gardening, and her many friends, some of them life-long. Ruth was a passionate collector of art and antiques with exquisite taste and an eye for the unusual.
She and Harold had a special affinity for American Folk Art. They were especially excited when one of their fractur's (a pennsylvania dutch water color) was featured on Antiques Roadshow.
Ruth also spent many years volunteering for the Jewish Federation of South Jersey and the Salvation Army. Ruth was always up for adventure and never lost her passion for life.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will schedule a memorial in Philadelphia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's honor to the charity of your choice.
