Sachimi "Chimi" Taylor, 79, took her last breath, with her older daughter at her side, on Friday, November 4, 2016 in VITAS Inpatient Hospice, Conroe, Texas. She was born in Japan on April 23, 1937. Daughter to Chikazo and Tama Yamaji and older sister to Yukio Yamaji, she grew up in Matsuzaka, Japan.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Robert Edwin Taylor in 1997. Bob, served in both the Air Force and the Army which allowed him to give Chimi an adventurous life as they lived and traveled all over the world including the United States, Europe, and Asia. Besides being a world traveler, Chimi's passions included art, sewing, flower arrangement, tea ceremony, cooking, tennis, dancing, teaching English as a second language, and Tom Cruise.
She will mostly be remembered as being a fighter. In 2001, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer and after surgery remained in remission. In 2010, she fought her way back from a subdural hematoma. Her strong will pushed her to continue to live life.
She lived the last nine years of her life, supporting and living with her older daughter Suzanne McKee and five of her grandchildren, Embry III, Kayleigh, Finnian, Hugh, and Sophie. She enjoyed eating in restaurants (especially sushi), going to movies, children's activities, baseball games, bingo, and road trips. She is also survived by her younger daughter, Kismette and son-in-law Jason Cone, who both lovingly supported her especially during her final days, along with her other four grandchildren, Caelen, Ahlyssa, Lily, and Jacob. Her survivors also include her best friend, Emiko Berger; a sister-in-law, Darleen Samuels; a niece, Kristine Carroll; and a nephew, Douglas Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 18, from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
